A harrowing Thursday evening continued into early Friday morning for hundreds of motorists trapped on the Braulio Carrillo Highway that connects San José to the Caribbean port city of Limón. Heavy rains triggered multiple landslides that stranded 380 people for hours in the dark and rain. Miraculously, no one was seriously injured according to initial reports. This is the route to Parismina and Cahuita. Cahuita is the home of the Calypso singer Walter Ferguson, where Melanie and Gypsy and I spent a week or so one summer. I've traveled it various times. It is sort of like the road to W. Va. Stomach turning. Melanie vomited out the window of the bus on this road.
