Péter Magyar’s Tisza party wins election as prime minister concedes defeat, in result likely to reshape ties with EU

My son & I were fortunate enough to visit Budapest, Hungary before Orban was reelected. At that time it felt  like somewhere just out from the iron curtain. Which I guess it was. To me the people seemed suspicious and  maybe fearful. I got a hair cut and bought a sundress. But we stayed at the most wonderful bed and breakfast I've ever seen. The breakfast was truly scrumptious. Several kinds of meats, eggs, fried potatoes,  yogurt products, including my first time with kefir. Yum.  A variety of that cerealy stuff that I can't recall the name of, that many Scandinavians eat for  breakfast, and many fruits. And bread!! We wandered under bridges and train tracks and rode deserted elevators in order to get to the river Danube. Once there we boarded a large sea going vessel and cruised down and then up the Danube. We visited and ate at a castle on the other, Pest, side of the river. Lots of walking, along the river, of course. Adventure trying (arguing) to buy train tickets on the Buda side. We have since, occasionally,  questioned our choice of vacation location. We pondered Egypt, Poland, Morocco, but chose Hungary. We had no idea that the cruel iron  barrier would soon clang down again. Wouldn't have missed it. Congrats to Hungary.     Would that Hungary is just the beginning of an intelligent electorate winning. Good Luck, from a Yank in distress in a country in trouble.
