Mid Summer Sunday

Kelly mentioned Netflix on a comment and it prompted this totally unnecessary note. Her comment was in another context--actually it was more about dirty windows, disappearing fingerprints and the ability to see clearly. Well, sort of.  I was browsing on Netflix for something after House of Cards and decided to see if Return to Bountiful was a painful as I remember it. Fortunately for me I imagine, they did not have it and they recommended, among others, Howards End. It pains me to leave out the apostrophe, especially as my spell checker is hounding me to put it in, but it was not in the movie and if Merchant and Ivory don't know correct English, who does? Certainly not Google.
I had seen it long ago and recall it as boring and uninteresting. And this was at a time that I loved anything Forster or Merchant/Ivory, so I was surprised and disappointed. I decided to give it another try with my current mind and found it fascinating. The visuals alone were worth the view and I can imagine how Forster described them in print. I have it on my Kindle, so I can read it and find out.
I always knew I could enjoy today books that I didn't understand or relate in the past, but am interested--well, amazed--to find it holds true with movies also. At least with this movie. I must try others.  I've spent the day nibbling and browsing and enjoyed it thoroughly. Also I want to see some of the Unseen on accounta the guy who died who was also in St. Elsewhere who I never woulda guessed. Thanks to  Dip for that info.
A complaint: I have tried every way I know to remove books from my Kindle and seem unable to do it. I delete them from the active file and they appear in the archive. I go online and delete them but they do not leave. Find and  Sync and Update or whatever do nothing but download books to my device. I am beginning to assume that the ones in the archive that show as a list on my Kindle are actually not  stored  there but that these titles are shortcuts to download them from the cloud, with which I have never had no truck with and never intend to  so much as acknowledge. As I write this it seems that this is so obvious that I am a fool for not  realizing it before. As well as for many other reasons.
