I miss the person who wrote this.
Today I clicked on a link in a friend's post on FB to listen to a song. It took some fumbling, as it always does, and I wound up signing in to something called Spotify. Not something I really want, I thought, although I did enjoy the song. It was called 1936 by Mark Kozelek and Jimmy LaValle. The music did not stop after that song, so I tried, in my click and backspace and delete manner, to make it go away. To no avail. I did manage to delete several dozen photos I had been saving, but the damn music is still playing.
Eventually I came to a page that promised to keep me up on what is trending near you. Well! I mean.
Can you possibly conceive the depth of my retroactive embarrassment and chagrin in discovering that I had been walking in the world all these years without keeping up on what is trending near me. Today, as the sensitive among you can imagine, my humiliation is immeasurable. I cringe in disgust at my lack of hipness or cool or whatever it is that accrues to those who have always known what is trending near them.
I have tried to keep up by chatting with my grandchildren. I ask them about new slang words, such as MILF and LMAO . Street talk, I think it is called.
Once I warned a grandchild, who was on her way to a party, not to drink anything someone else had prepared, nor a bottle that had been opened already. The grandchild laughed, "Grandma, that advice is 20 years old." So I know that now.
Anyway, my point is, now I will be aware of what is trending near me.
Does anyone know how to make this music stop? It may be trending near me, but I want it to go away now.
Help.
